Home Stamford is a town of great Georgian architectural merit. The town centre became the first urban Conservation Area in the country in 1967. Northfields is the Victorian area to the the North of the town centre, and it became a Conservation Area in its own right in 2006 in order to protect the many Victorian terrace cottages that exist there. Northfields also contains trees, greenery, and fauna that enhance the quality of life for both the residents and for the many people who pass through the area. The purpose of this website is to raise awareness of the issues that affect the quality of life in the area, with particular reference to planning applications and their effect on Northfields. In relation to planning applications, local bodies such as South Kesteven District Council, the Stamford Civic Society, and the local police all have their part to play. Residents and visitors can contribute to the enhancement of the local environment by being individually pro-active and also by contacting organisations such as those mentioned above when necessary. |
