SKDC is the main supplier of local services, with a few of the services supplied by Stamford Town Council. We all benefit from an enhanced quality of life if the locality is well looked after both by the authorities and by individuals.
SKDC employs a body of people who are responsible for looking after the public areas of grass, trees, and greenery. SKDC employees collect refuse and they pick up litter. It is everyone's responsibility to avoid dropping litter in the first place.
Friends of Stamford Recreation Ground is an organisation formed in 2007. This is an example of residents banding together for the benefit of the local environment. The bandstand on "the rec" is shown to the right, and the lower photograph shows local residents planting bulbs on a grass verge in Northfields.
One of the problems Stamford faces is that SKDC headquarters is in Grantham. This can be an obstacle, particularly with planning
applications, therefore it is important to make contact with Grantham. Several Town Councillors are on the SKDC District Committee.
