All residents in Stamford have the privilege of living in a beautiful Georgian town. Stamford is served by one of the oldest and largest Civic Societies in the country. The Stamford Civic Society is very active in conserving the best aspects of Stamford whilst promoting excellence where change is necessary
In recent times The Stamford Civic Society has extended its interest beyond
the Georgian town centre to include the Victorian area to the north of the town. The Society was instrumental in helping to create the Northfields Conservation Area, and has already played its part in objecting to inappropriate developments.
The Society has a comprehensive programme of lectures and visits together with an acive social calendar. It produces a regular newsletter and is not expensive to join. Membership of the Society enables individuals to be actively involved with their local heritage.
