Home Planning Trees Traffic Civic Society Local Services |
Traffic Northfields was developed over 100 years ago.The narrow roads and complicated junctions cannot always cope satisfactorily with the number of modern day vehicles, trucks, and double decker buses that use the local roads. Many houses do not have garages, therefore "on street parking" is widespread. Traffic is created not only by residents but also by visitors. There is a Further Education College in the area, together with 8 other schools and nurseries. They cater for a total of about 3500 students and pupils. The roads in the area also receive a large amount of transit traffic which travels from one side of town to the other. Lincolnshire Highways Authority is the body responsible for the roads and it is they who advise SKDC on the traffic and parking implications for planning applications. The advice from Lincolnshire Highways to the planning authority has serious safety implications for both vehicles and pedestrians. If objectors to planning applications have concerns about traffic and parking , then it is extremely important that these matters form part of their objection to SKDC |
