Northfields is very fortunate to possess many areas of trees, verges, hedges. These areas make a very valuable contribution to the quality of life in the area.
The verge and trees pictured on the right are at the southern end of Emlyn's Street, and people who walk down the pavement sometimes describe the pathway as a "glade" or "oasis".Trees also help to support local birds and wildlife.
It is not always appreciated that Tree Preservation Orders (TPO's) sometimes count as nothing in the face of a determined developer. During recent years, large mature trees have been felled in the locality in order to make way for new houses. SKDC employs tree experts who are available to give advice to anyone who contacts them.
If an objection is being made to a planning application it is very important that any threat to the trees and greenery is highlighted.
